Scented candle
The first burn
Burn until the wax on the surface melts evenly all the way to the side of the cup — usually [number of hours] hours. Wax has a memory: if you put it out early the first time, later burns will tunnel down the middle and leave wax clinging to the sides.
Every burn
- Trim the wick to about 5mm before lighting. A long wick makes a tall flame, black smoke and soot on the glass.
- Do not burn for more than [number of hours] hours at a time.
- Place the candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from draughts and direct sunlight.
- Use a lid or a snuffer to put it out rather than blowing — the scent stays cleaner and there is less smoke.
When little wax is left
Stop burning when about [number] mm of wax remains at the bottom, to avoid overheating the base of the cup.
The cinnamon cup after the candle is finished
Pour out the remaining wax with warm water, dry it and keep the cup. The cinnamon bark still holds its scent and can be used as a pen holder, for small things, or placed in a wardrobe.
Perfume
- Spray from a distance of 15–20cm, onto the pulse points: wrists, behind the ears, the inner elbow.
- Do not rub your wrists together after spraying — the friction breaks the top notes.
- Store somewhere dry, away from light and heat. Do not keep it in the bathroom.
Essential oils and diffusers
- Fill with water to the line marked on the device and add [number of drops] drops of essential oil for every 100ml of water.
- Use clean water; avoid mineral water that leaves residue.
- Clean the water chamber after every [number] uses with a soft cloth so old oil does not mix into a new scent.
- Do not apply essential oil directly to the skin undiluted.
Safety
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Keep it away from curtains, paper, books and anything else that catches fire easily.
