ZUNGZA handcrafted perfume

ZUNGZA blends its perfume in small batches, bottled at 50ml, with oils blended by zungza. One bottle gives around six hundred sprays, enough for a great many mornings. We chose that size because it fits: long enough to grow used to a scent, and small enough that you still want to try another.

Each scent keeps to no more than three main notes. The nose remembers in clusters rather than in lists, so the fewer the notes, the clearer the image that appears. ZUNGZA scents are named after places, so choosing one is like choosing somewhere to return to.

How to spray so the scent stays longer

Spray on both sides of the neck and on the inner wrists, where the pulse warms the scent and lets it travel slowly. Hold the bottle about a hand's width from the skin so the scent opens evenly. After spraying, let it dry on its own rather than rubbing, so the layers appear in their proper order.

Every skin holds scent differently, so from the same bottle one person smells warmth and another clarity. That is what makes a scent your own. If you want it to stay with you all day, you can spray once more in the afternoon, when the opening has settled.

Choosing a scent for your day

On mornings that need a clear head, the green dry scents of a pine hill, crushed leaves or wind over stone suit better. On afternoons when you want to slow down, the warm scents of dry wood and cinnamon bark hold you longer. Walking in the forest, trekking or camping, a light clean scent usually travels with nature better than a heavy one.
