A grey concrete cup, slightly rough on the face, heavy in the hand, and once set on a shelf it stays there. We made this range for rooms with much wood and fabric, where a heavy grey object looks best of all.
RUNG GIA leans towards cinnamon, black pepper and agarwood. What we pictured making this scent was the canopy of an old forest after rain, the earth still holding warmth, rotting wood breathing out a very slow, deep note. This is the strongest of the four, so it belongs to the evening. NUI NON is lighter, leaning towards bergamot, lavender and cedar, like early morning on a mountain slope while dew still lies on the grass, and so it is easy to place in the living room during the day.
THONG REO leans towards pine, sweet orange and cedar, dry and airy like a pine forest with wind passing through, the needles knocking together into one continuous sound. We often suggest this scent for a workroom. SUOI NGUON tells of the place a stream begins: cold water running over stone, damp moss, air as clean as if it had just been washed. This direction is clear and cool, for anyone who likes a feeling of openness rather than warm spice.
The cup and the numbers
The grey concrete cup holds two hundred and twenty grams of soy wax blended by ZUNGZA, with a full cotton wick and essential oils composed by ZUNGZA. The wax keeps its natural colour, the cup is left open, one jar burns about forty hours, and the shelf life is three years from the date of production.
Once the wax is gone, pour hot water into the cup, wait for the wax to float up and lift it out, wash it again and use the cup to grow a small plant or to hold dry goods in the kitchen. We like cups that still have work to do after the candle is out.
