There are two kinds of people who message us. One kind comes home at seven in the evening, cooks, and then sits in the room until late. The other kind is out from morning to night and wants the room to already hold a familiar scent on coming home. Those two kinds need two different things, and that is the whole answer to the question of whether to choose a candle or a diffuser.
A candle needs you in the room. You light it, wait about fifteen minutes for the melt pool to spread and the scent to become clear, sit with it an hour or two, and then put it out when you leave. In return, a candle gives you what a diffuser cannot: light. One cinnamon cup jar burns thirty-five to forty hours; the glass cup jar and the concrete cup jar burn fifty to fifty-five hours.
The one hundred millilitre diffuser works continuously with nobody watching. You put the wooden reeds into the bottle, stand it on a shelf, and the room has an even scent for two to three months. For a clearer scent add reeds; for a lighter one take some out. As for turning the reeds, that depends on each home, because temperature and humidity differ by region, so the truest way is to turn them when you find the scent in the room fading.
If you already have a mist diffuser
In that case the fifteen millilitre bottle of essential oil is the neatest. One bottle lasts a great many uses because each time needs only a few drops, and you can switch it on when you want and off when you are done.
The three directions of the essential oil range are RUNG GIA, NUI NON and THONG REO, the same names as the three directions of the concrete cup candles, so you can keep one consistent line of scent through the house.
What we usually suggest
For the bedroom, we usually tell you to use a candle on evenings when you are at home, and to keep the diffuser in the living room or the hallway, where you pass many times but rarely sit. For a rented home or a home with small children, a diffuser is the option needing no flame; it only needs one fixed place on a high shelf.
And if you are only choosing one thing for the first time, think about your evenings. Whether you tend to sit still in the room or not, that answer decides more than any comparison of figures.
